Yellow, specifically, reminds me of the importance of friends and to accept change, even if it’s hard- and to stick by the ones that that are important to you, because you never know what they’re going through- and you never really forget them. She also teaches the importance of communication. For example, in chapter 299, Deoxys spent a very long time trying to communicate with Red through fighting. When Yellow arrived and showed it that there are other means of interacting with those around you, the tables turned entirely from Giovanni having a hand over the Pokedex holders, to the Pokedexers gaining not only a powerful fighter, but a loyal friend. I would even go as far as to say family member, considering the blood ordeal.
Yellow taught Deoxys something important- that fighting isn’t a necessary, nor the only, way to get the attention of someone. Deoxys clearly saw that Red meant a great deal to Yellow and learned by example the effectiveness of words and kind actions, vs the violence that Giovanni had forced it to accept as it’s primary communication.
If Pokemon really existed, I think I’d be a much happier and more productive person.
I’d have ambitions, motivation, and friends that needed me. More importantly, I’d have friends that never lie or tell my secrets.
I would be so attached to my Pokemon. They would be my best friends and my family, my reason to fight and my reason to give.
You could laugh together, cry together, play together, and succeed together.
I think the dependency on friendship in the Pokemon world is beautiful. Even the most stoic trainers have that one Pokemon they can depend on to help them rise up- out of emotional slumps, up to the championships. Their Pokemon adapt to the trainer’s personality and learn to understand them like no human possibly could- and while most can’t use human speech, the love they share would speak louder than any words and communicate condolences much more effectively than petty speech.
Pokemon are real heroes. They never leave you, and they’ll fight to the death to protect you. Their dedication is heartwarming to say the least, and the loyalty is unmatched. I wish I had Pokemon.
